Inheritance
I wonder why this is called the inheritance trilogy, I mean what does Eragon Inherit? Who will be the next Dragon Rider? What will the name of the next book be? Is Christopher Paolini a great author or what? All these questions will probably be answered when the next book comes out. The Inheritance trilogy is one of the best series I’ve ever read in my life time. It’s full of suspens, magic, fantastic and action.
I’m now rereading Eragon and Eldest to envoy fully our debating blogs.
Here comes what have been said into my eragon page from my site:
-The title of the next book will certainly be called empire as it got 6 letters and becomes by an “E”.
-The next rider seems to be someone between Arya, Nasuada, Katrina, and Roran but a lot of people think the next rider will be a woman, that would bring balance amoung the dragonriders and will ride a green dragon (this is sure, Paolini said it). Also the next rider has to be already powerfull as she/he has to fight along with Eragon and not being a burden, that is why most of people are thinkig of Roran or Arya. Paolini has also said that he had let clues in the firsts two books that will determine the identity of the next rider.
-The sword and the power from the prophecy made to Eragon seem to be Brom’s sword which is under the Monea Tree, but this seems quite an odd place to “lose” his blade. As for the powers, they are contained in the Vault of souls whiwh apparently is already used by Galbatorix and Murtagh. I explain: in the last fight between Eragon and Murtagh in the second book, when Eragon tries to catch his opponent’s whishies via his mind, he discovers multiple spirits. This is why Murtagh is so powerfull, he uses more than his own soul to fight and use magic and so is Galbatorix. If Eragon finds this Vault he will have two choises: use it or destroy it. I believe in the second theory, ’cause this will mean that Murtagh and Galbatorix’ powers will come to normal again and Eragon and the next rider will use their own capacities to kill them.
-Roran will certainly be the next king as the Varden will no longer have a purpuse to exist.
-Eragon will also flee along with the elves on their secret island and live with arya forever. Remember his dream when two peple enter in a magnificient baot with beautiful people (elves) and two dragons flying above them.

if u’ve read Eldest you would know partially why it is called inheritance. my predictions for the 3rd book:
– eragon and roran free katrina (i know they at least get into the lair of the razac, cause i read the sneak peak stuff)
– eragon and saphira rescue the 3rd egg
– it hatches for arya
– arya and eragon fall in love as will green dragon and saphira.
– murtagh will turn good at the last second kind of like aniken skywalkier in starwars
– eragon will finish his training with ormis and ormis will die from his illness, leaving eragon being the last good dragon rider
– big battle. i think eragon will kill galbatorix and murtagh will be turned good, die, or die saving eragon.
– in the end, eragon and arya will go to the land where the elves came from , and he and arya will have one little boy.

i totally agree that eragon should destroy the vault of souls, b/c ormis said that galbatorix gets his power in a cruel and evil way that was never ment to be discovered. eragon had BETTER not stoop that low, i’ll be really sad if it does.
I also agree that Roran will have a place of leadership. the only other thing that might happen, is MAYBE… someone will kill galbatorix’s dragon and then EVERYONE would all leave for a different land, so galbatorix would be all alone in his saddness, but that is HIGHLY unlikely

What if Galbatorix gets his power by enslaving the Souls in the vault of souls? Then Eragon could go there and the souls would help him willingly. That way, It wouldn’t be cruel.

I can’t wait for the third book to come out! Here’s what I think will happen in Book 3!
The cover of the book will be a green dragon
The book will be called Empire
Either Roran or Arya will be the next rider
The release date will be sometime in 2007. I heard it may be pushed back to 2008. I also heard that it will come out this year in March.
Oromis will most likely die and so will galbatorix.
The second book ended with Eragon finding out the Murtagh is his brother, and that Morzan is his father. However, this may not be true. Why not? Visit this site to see for yourself:

hulie, i love ur theories and hope they come true ^_^ – heya – I was deeply sadend to learn that murthag had turned evil, i really liked him. In fact my only condolence was in knowing he wasn’t dead.
I really hope that there’s a chance in book 3 that eragon will kill galbatorix and therby free murtagh of his oaths to galbatorix, leaving murtagh to live a happy life with nasuada. – what are your thoughts ppl?

The next rider has to be Arya because if the dragon has to be green, the color of the rider’s magic must be green as well. As we have seen, Arya’s fire is green, so it is most likely that the next rider will be Arya.

I have yet to see the movie, so I do not know how that plays out, as for what I believe to come in the next book… Arya admits havimg feelings for Eragon. The last egg will hatch for a woman whos shows great strength of character. Murtagh will be free’d of his oath. Orimis will aid in the fight against Galbatorix, and dies because of it.

Damm these books are good! so hard to beat! But these and The Harry Potter series are my favourites, i just dont understand how the authors can actually be capable of having enough brains to write they like do. ak.a. incredible genius’. I believe that Arya will become the next dragon rider as that will aid Eragon in his plight to woo Arya because of Saphira’s and Dragon 3’s predicted relationship. Eragon will never set foot in Alagaesia again as Angela predicted this. He will leave with Arya and the elves to their homeland. Another possibility is if Roran Becomes king he will then change the name from Alagaesia to something else as to start fresh and forget the bad history. Therefore Eragon will never really be stepping foot in ‘Alagaesia’ again. Oromis will tell Eragon of his real name as all elves are born with such knowledge. This should help eragon wen he needs to speak his name to the Kuthian – vault of souls. How is Angela so old???? With all her battles experience and knowledge. I think Solembum helps her alot. The next Dragon rider will be Ariana. She used a spell which sent green flames or energy out. Plus from a writer’s perspective it makes sense. We all want Eragon and Ariana together but it seems Ariana has made is clear to crush all hopes of that. Having their two bonded dragons become each others mates would connect them definitly. Plus no other character would give Eragon enough strenth to defeat Mortague and Galbatorex. It completes a circle. Plus I have a weird suspecian that Eragon and Mortague are only half brothers. Brom idolized Morzan and there seems to be more than one reason for Brom to seduce Selena. Plus it gives another reason for Selena to take Eragon away 1. she didn’t want him to suffer like Mortague and 2. Morzan for eventually figure out that Eragon wasn’t his. And it also makes more sense why Brom was in Carver Haul. It doesn’t seem right that Brom would stop having such an active role in the Varitan to watch over a potential enemy in Eragon. Also, Morzan was killed closely after Selena died. If I was a writer I would have added that twist. I apologize for my botched spelling but I didn’t feel like looking up all the names.

ok so… here is how it goes.
arya for sure is the next rider since dragons olor is the riders magic color
and who remembers that when they are going to the elven city that eragon
describes aryas magic as emrald green … connet the dots, it also solves the question of them being togeather. since they will have alot more in common ;p
as for the vault of soules he better open that place and start fightin dirty
since he got OWNED by his brother who started magic alot later!!!
and i bet that eragon is going to know murtaghs power name and at the last moment will use it to save his life
there is a slim chance that murtagh will give them the last emrald dragon

dude evry body knows that eragon will never invade a persons mind. So i dont think that eragon will use the vault of souls , i think he and murtagh after using murtaghs true name will go and destroy the vault of souls , thus relaseing the imprisoned spirit from galbatorixs control and defeating him

i think in the third book brisngr, eragon will realize his true power will be over fire. He will also free everyone in the vault of souls that galbatoix and his minnions have killed bringing back his uncle and friends and getting rid of galbatorixs power allowing eragon to kill him. I also think arya will get the egg and will end up killing murtagah to protect eragon because eragon wont kill murtagah. The only reson why he would kill eragon because he swore in the ancient language that he wont let him go the next time they meet. As for the sword i think eragon will find broms old sword in the menoa tree because of the fact that he is eragons father.

Just to make you all hate me, I will now disprove your wishful, and mostly outrageous reasoning.
To Max, Brom’s sword cannot be hidden under the Menoa, he lost it at Doru Areaba, and begged Rhunon in Eldest for another. Also, it is not proven that Brom is Eragon’s father and Paolini has made no mention of this in his novels.
To Ashley, you have made almost no use of fact at all, ARYA (Ariana is in the Harry Potter books.) Though I appreciate free speech, FACTUAL evidence for claims is, and will always be, needed. And I beg you to learn to spell, you words defeat their own purpose.

Okay here goes… I don’t think that the last dragon egg is green… On page 449 of Eldest, Eragon “stepped upon a sharp object that, when he bent to examine it, proved to be a fragment of green dragon egg”; I believe that the green dragon which has been mentioned has in fact already hatched… The last egg is something entirely different… This green dragon may befriend Arya- since their magic is the same colour- though that is just a wild speculation… Blagden’s rhyme proves that Brom is in fact Eragon’s father; this explains why he was living in Carvahall- to watch over his son-, don’t scorn this until you’ve looked at the facts, read over Blagden’s rhyme, and Angela’s fortune telling (there are probably others too…). The weapon Eragon must find beneath the roots of the menoa tree, is another aspect I have a theory on: not what it is more where it is. Don’t expect Eragon to find it by digging down beneath the roots, and around the trunk… I think that “beneath the roots”, is in fact metaphoric; he must look to it’s ancestery as it were, of the roots of the elf maiden Linnea, rather than the physical tree itself. As for the rock of Kuthian and the vault of souls, I think that this will have great significane though my own theories as to how and why are not strong… I think that either Oromis, Glaedr, or both, are likely to die in book 3 (brisingr). I would like to think that Nasuada, and Murtagh will get together as this would be an interesting turn of events. I doubt that Galbatorix will be taken down until the last book… I think that Eragon will discover his true name at some point, though if he does it is likely that someone else will learn it too and gain power over him… The struggle for power would have to be maintained for the fourth book. Nasuada may lose favour with the Varden… Elva will have an important role… In the end Roran will end up with a powerful position, and it will be he on the beach as the two riders leave the land forever (supposing that one of the two riders is Eragon- which it most probably is). If Arya, Saphira, or Roran dies Eragon may be pushed into bringing them back from the dead… Though I don’t know how that would work; and I have doubts that it would happen… The new book will be out September 20th 2008, will be titled: Brisingr; and will display Glaedr on the cover. I can’t wait!!! The wyrd of the Inheritance series is yet to be revealed!

Here are the facts.
The 3rd book is called Brisngr and has the picture of Glaedr on it (gold dragon)
Brom is Eragons father.
The weapon under the menoa tree is brightsteel which rhunon uses to forge Eragon a new sword.
Eragons new sword is blue and he names it Brisngr which turns out to be its true name.
Oromis and Glaedr are killed by Galbotorix through Murtagh and Thorn.
Orik becomes the new Dwarf King.
Eragon and Arya kill another shade towards the end of the book.
Glaedr gives Eragon and Saphira his Heart of Hearts.
Angela is over 100 years old because Oromis said he knew her once and Oromis and Glaedr have not left Ellesmera in over 100 years.
My Theory is this:
Arya will become the next dragon rider ( Yes I do think the color of a persons magic has a purpose, Eragons magic is blue, Broms magic was blue when he lit the fire on the plains before they got to Yazuac, and Arya’s magic is green)
The Vault of Souls is not the souls of the dragons but the souls of the Riders.
Roran will not be king because he does not seem the type to want to rule but he would want to return to Palancar Valley with Katrina and his future child.
I think that Nasuada will likely become queen although i wont rule Roran out.
Props to Sam for your idea of the name of alagasia changing so that Eragon doesnt have to leave but Eragons vision could be true. Lets just hope theres a cool new twist in book 4.

This is all true. You have found out. Brom is Eragon’s father. Eragon’s true name is Brisngr. Oromis dies by a sword the goes through his shoulder and down. He screams then dies. Roran will become a king. I wrote that Oromis said that Palancar’s blood was sitll in the valley. Arya is the last rider. I have a fourth book coming. It will show the last dragon with his head coming from the right side of the picture. That is all that im saying. Read and buy my books to find out. About the vault, you are all correct. If any beloved ones die (Katrina!!!!! because eragon swore in the ancient language that he would protect her even if Roran doesn’t die!!!) Eragon will save their souls. I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.

In Book 4, the final Dragon Egg will hatch for Orik, and Galbatorix will be goin WTF so much he doesn’t notice the sword being driven through his chest.

To bad tha in eldest it states that dwarves were not included in the pact that the elves, dragons and later on he humans made. PLus the fact that orik is dwarve king makes it kinda seem that he wont because if he were a dragon rider the effects of the magic make him immortal, even though the dwarves have outrageous long lives they sill die of old age

If the pattern where each dragon is shown on a book,

The well of souls however cannot contain the souls of riders, because in Eldest, Glaedr killed a rat and Eragon felt his soul die with him

i think it kinda plays in the star wars theme (Bid’daum was white-good force, shrukin is black-bad force)
